Duke St Dog Park

The Duke Street Dog Park in Alexandria is a popular destination for humans and their fur-babies for a chance to run, romp and play with other canine kids off leash. Located inside the All Veterans Park, this dog park is accessible from Duke Street, and is separated from the main area of All Veterans Park by a looping road, just below the larger park on the east side.

The Duke Street Dog Park does not have a small dog area, but one fenced off section that is big enough for dogs to space out naturally. This huge, grass-and-dirt space features a double security gate and lots of room for games of catch or fetch, and running full speed. The mature trees provide some shade within the park, where you pal can cool off during the dog days of summer. Current amenities in this pawtastic park include some benches and trash barrels, but no waste bags, so be sure to bring your own. Picnic tables and chairs dot the park as well. Drinking bowls and toys are available, although you need to bring your own water for your pooch.

There's no parking on site, but a mall with parking is located nearby, just a short walk away along a Duke Street sidewalk. Many choose to park at the Beatley Library, adjacent to the dog park.

The surrounding All Veterans Park features some more places to explore with your pal on-leash. This forested park features the Holmes Run Trail, and trail that follows a stream and is popular among runners, bikers, and dog walkers. On your travels you'll come across an observation tower built on the bank of the stream, and a footbridge that crosses over the river to Brookvalley Park. 

The Duke Street Dog Park, near the center of Alexandria, is a pawrfect place to bring your canine kiddie to exercise away some of the doggy tension and pent-up energy that can lead to bad-dog behavior. Visitors and residents alike are welcome, and the pups love it here!
