Edison Street Off Leash Dog Area

Edison Street Off-Leash Dog Area is one of several dog play spaces in Alexandria, Virginia. This dedicated dog facility is located within Four Mile Run Park, a wooded park comprised of two acres which lies adjacent to the stream which bears the same name. Though many dogs love to swim and park officials permit dogs to access the body of water, an advisory warns against drinking or playing in the stream due to concerns regarding contamination and hazardous objects. 

This dog-friendly park boasts of a substantial play area located in a tranquil, shaded setting. However, it is important to note that though the run is amenable to off-leash play; it is not fenced. The play area boundaries are established through well-marked wooden stakes. Owners are asked to ensure their dogs are leashed coming both to and from the designated play space and to retain a lead with them at all times in case of an emergency.

This beloved off-leash play area is accessible to the public free of charge. It is unknown if bathroom facilities are available on site or if a potable water source is provided. For this reason, owners should carry a bottle of water and a suitable drinking vessel with them to help keep Fido well-hydrated during his day at the park.

While dogs are welcome on the trail, park officials do require that they remain on a lead when not in the designated off-leash dog section of the park. It is not known if complimentary poop bags are available at this serene park setting. However, it is required that all owners carry bags to assist them with picking up and properly disposing of their dog's waste materials.

Park officials require that all dogs visiting the park be current on vaccinations, including rabies. In addition to this, they must also bear the appropriate required state license tag. Electronic collars are strictly prohibited at this park location.
