Probably your pupper's favorite part will be scampering along the trails with their human. There is a 9.5-mile challenging outdoor motorcycle trail, but the path all the dogs are barking about is the 2.5 mile Turkey Creek Trail because here they can go off leash. That's right, though dogs must remain leashed throughout the rest of Emma Long Metropolitan Park, dogs can run free along the Turkey Creek Trail, one of the only trails in Austin to allow it. Along this puptastic trail, you'll find lots of free flowing creeks your pooch can splash in, rocky terrain, and beautiful, dense trees. With several elevation changes, you're pup is sure to be pooped on the ride home!
Dogs are welcome in this park with both paws, as long as proper petiquette is followed. This includes following the leash rules, picking up after your pal, and making sure they remain respectful to all other humans and creatures. Bring water to share with your adventure dog, and be sure to grab some clean-up bags at teh trailhead.
The entry fees for the park are $1 per day if you walk-in or bike in, $5 per day for vehicles Monday to Thursday, and $10 per vehicle Friday through Sunday. Doggos are free! There are additional fees if you'd like to check into the campgrounds and spend the night in the great outdoors. This park is Austin's one and only campground with a beach, and campers like to enjoy their days fishing, hiking, playing volleyball or basketball, swimming on the beach or boating on the river, although note that dogs are prohibited from beach areas.
Emma Long Metropalitan Park is truly a puppy paradise, so bring your pup for a visit today!
