As if having the large Fort Borst Park to explore wasn't enough, dogs in Centralia can also enjoy the on site dog park! Located in the southern area of the community park below the lake, this pawrific dog area is just the place to beat those canine boredom blues.
The furbulous dog park stretches for one acre, and is fully fenced with a double gated entry. Best of all, there's two separate areas, so whether you have a small pupper or a large dog, they can feel comfortable romping with similar sized furiends. The grounds are well maintained, and the soft grass stays green. Concrete tubes are in both sections for canines to run on, as well as doggie fire hydrants.
Running water is available, but you will need to bring something to put it in, whether a bowl or bottle. Its also best to bring your own during the colder months with freezing temperatures. Clean-up bags and trash cans can be found at the entrance to the dog park, so be sure to always pick up whatever your pup leaves behind. While for most of the year, the dog park is only accessible by foot, meaning you'll have to park and walk a bit to get there, the loop is open to cars from Memorial Day to Labor Day on weekends. All dogs should have up to date vaccinations and be wearing a rabies and ID tag on their collars to enter the dog park.
If you and your doggo want to explore the rest of Fort Borst Park, clip on that leash and grab a few clean-up bags for the journey. The walking trails and vegetation outside Fort Borst Dog Park also make for a fantastic attraction. Walk a few trails in the woods and wear yourselves out, or check out the pavilions with BBQ's, picnic tables, or the lake. There are various sports fields at the park too, but unfurtunately, they prohibit dogs.
