This off leash dog park is vast and beautiful, and stretches for a whopping 22 acres. Offering 3 fully fenced in areas, there's a spot for every kind of pup. Smaller and older dogs will appreciate the separate small dog area. Note that the small dog area is reserved for a greyhound group every Sunday morning from 9 AM to 10 AM. Adjacent to the small dog section is a medium area that's quite large, and good if your dog is new to the dog park. Then there's the very large field that's pawfect for confident dogs who need lots of space to run and explore. All feature a soft grass terrain, and there's bushes and trees in and around the dog park. Each section also has a shade feature to help beat the rays. The agility equipment can bring out the athlete in your dog.
Benches for you to relax on are located throughout, though with this large area, its best to keep your dog in sight. Drinking water for pups is available in all sections during the warmer months, so be sure to bring water of your own in freezing temperatures. There's also clean-up bags and trash cans, making picking up after your dog a breeze. Before coming to this furbulous park, be sure your dog is fully vaccinated and wearing a current license tag.
If your dog gets their fill of the off leash park, clip on the leash and explore the rest of Fort Steilacoom Park. With a pawrific trail system, there's ample pawpportunity to wear your pup out. Check out the paved Discovery Trail that circles Waughop Lake, or head to the various sports fields when not in use. There's picnic areas, restrooms, and playgrounds for the little two leggeds in your pack.
