Welcome to sunny California! Where the grass isn’t always green, but the sun is always shining. If you happen to be in Santa Rosa and want to enjoy some sun, make sure to stop by Franklin Park, a very friendly dog park that sits on fourteen acres of land. It offers barbecues, picnic tables, a field, a clubhouse, playground, and parking!
The area has a lot of shady spots to take a break from tanning, and a soccer field to utilize with a frisbee or—my favorite ‘catch me if you can’ where your pup runs away from you as soon as you say it’s time to go home. This park is well maintained with easy access to recycling, and garbage bins so make sure to use them, especially when disposing of food because you never know what furry friend will try to get their hands (paws) on your half-eaten hot dog!
This beautiful place also offers easy access to restrooms, for humans there are washrooms, and for puppers, there’s the open field, just don’t forget the baggies. This park is also used for reserved parties, and picnics which make planning your dog's birthday very easy and fun! Plus there is no need to pay for parking or to enter the park! If you choose to bring your little humans with you and make it a family day, there is a separate play gym with a fence.
Friendly reminder to bring your pup on a leash, and maybe even your little humans if you so please. As of January 2016, this park is an on-leash only area. Given the size of the park and the multiple picnic spots, it’s important to have your dog with you at all times to avoid any fines or preventable situations. This is the perfect spot for all residents, and tourists who are looking for a quick and easy place to BBQ, have fun, and get that exercise in!
