There is no officially fenced play area for dogs at Freeman Park Off-Leash Dog Beach. However, dogs may enjoy off-leash exercise from April 1st through September 30th, the peak vacation season, before 9 AM and after 5 PM. From October 1st through March 31st, dogs are permitted beach access 24 hours per day.Â
The only restriction placed upon dogs visiting Freeman Park Off-Leash Dog Beach is that they must be under complete voice control at all times. It is important to note that in all other areas dogs must remain on a lead. Dogs are strictly forbidden access on the wooden portions of the historic boardwalk property and the Boardwalk Business District.Â
Freeman Park Off-Leash Dog Beach is a public dog play haven. Access to the property is provided free of charge. There are no on-site amenities provided for dogs visiting this lovely beach. Owners must bring bottled water, a dog dish, and lawn chairs with them.Â
In addition, it is important to note that Carolina Beach by-laws require all dog owners to carry a minimum of two poop bags with them at all times and for said bags to be presented upon request. It is your responsibility to pick up after your pets.Â
Failure to furnish bags when asked to do so or to dispose of canine waste properly is an offense punishable by a $100 fine. Up to date vaccinations and a city dog license are also required. For a day of fun at a beautiful North Carolina beach, bring Fido and the family to Freeman Park Off-Leash Dog Beach!
