Calling all bored dogs in Columbia! The Garth Nature Area has a puptastic spot for you to get some wag in that tail at its very own dog park.
A double gated entry makes it extra safe to get into this woofderful play space. Once inside, your dog can ditch the leash. This dog park is truly puptastic with 3 acres of fenced in fun! This unique park even boasts its own lake, so dogs that enjoy exploring nature and splashing around in water will have a blast at this pupperdise. Dogs are encouraged to get a dip in, and there are benches and picnic tables conveniently located around the pond so you can keep an eye on your furbaby. The terrain of the park is dirt and grass, so its easy on the paws, but there are rocky areas near the shoreline.
Around the furbulous pond, the land is generally flat, so its great for a game of fetch. Your dog may get a bit dirty from running around, splashing in the water and rolling on the ground while playing with other dogs, so the park provides a dog wash station to clean them up before you go home. During the summer months, the park also offers a doggie drinking fountain with a large community pet bowl. The fountain is turned off during the winter months, so bring along fresh water if visit then. Clean-up bags and trash cans are located at the entrance to the dog park, making it easy to pick up after your pup. Note that all dogs are required to have current vaccinations and a license to visit this park.
If your dog gets enough of hobnobbing with neighbor dogs, you can clip the leash back on and explore the rest of Garth Nature Area. With over a mile of nature trails that meander through the park and around its other ponds, you are sure to satisfy the need to walk in your dog. There's even a trailhead for the Bear Creek Trail near the dog park which travels out of the nature area and through Columbia for the serious hikers. The nature area also has picnic areas and public restrooms for the humans in your pack.
