Description

The Great River Road State Park sits on 756 acres of land located in Bolivar County in Mississippi. The park is just off MS 1 near Rosedale, and approximately 35 miles north of Greenville in Mississippi. This state park is named after Great River Road which is a scenic parkway that follows the Mississippi River from its source as a small Canadian creek to its termination at the Gulf of Mexico.

There are several attractions that will lure visitors to this Mississippi state park. First, the park offers scenic views of the Mississippi River and the Mississippi Delta through a 75-foot overlook tower. Secondly, the park has numerous trails that lead to long, narrow sandbars at a mouth of the Mississippi River. These sandbars form one of the largest beaches in the state when the water levels in the river are low and are often visited by numerous birds and animals.

Besides these attractions, the park also has several other amenities that offer visitors the opportunity to participate in several other activities. Some of the amenities in the park include an 18-hole disc golf course, bathhouse with hot showers, picnic area and shelter, boat launch, 61 developed campsites (RV or tent camping), playground, nature trails, playing field, souvenir shop, visitor center with concession stand, and a banquet room.

If you are hanging out with your pup, they are allowed in most outdoor and designated areas of the park, like the golf course, playing field, picnic areas, developed campsites (RV or tent camping) areas, and boat launch area.

Areas that are out-of-bounds to barkers include all park buildings such as overnight lodging areas, bathhouse, the visitor center, and banquet room. Additionally, dogs are also forbidden from beach areas. For more detailed in-fur-mation about areas that you can and cannot access with your doggy, please make inquiries at the park office.

Other rules to be aware of include ensuring that your dog is always attended to and on a leash that is not more than six feet long. Also, dog owners are expected to clean up after their pooch and dispose of the all waste.

For a weekend expedition, or an afternoon adventure, you and your pup will love the Great River Road State Park!

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
