There is a large grass field here at the Hawks Prairie Dog Park, but the grass can be hit or miss. It can sometimes get into rough shape. This park is large. The fields and fenced space for your canine to run can wear out even the most energetic canine. There is plenty of space for games like fetch or frisbee.
Water is also available at the Hawks Prairie Dog Park, and you can hydrate your canine at the entrance to the fenced section. There is no fencing around this off-leash zone if your canine likes to take flight and ignores your voice control, you could have a problem with this dog park.
There is also no division of zones between large and small dogs, making this park of extra risk for small breeds. This park was founded and managed by the Thorton County Waste and Recovery Center. It is well maintained, but there is one one trash can near the playground you find between the dog park and the parking lot.
There are no doggie bags available at the Hawks Prairie Dog Park, and trash cans are few and far between. Your canine is not allowed on the playground or inside any of the nearby facilities. There is a public restroom for your convenience. If you are a local looking for a spot to play some fetch and get your canine some exercise, then the Hawks Prairie Dog Park is excellent.
