Hickory Knob State Resort Park is the only resort park (South Carolina Golf Resort) in the South Carolina State Park system. The park is situated along the wooded shores of the 71,000-acre Strom Thurmond Reservoir and is close to McCormick town, McCormick County, South Carolina. To get to the park just travel six miles west of McCormick Off US 378 (close to the border between South Carolina and Georgia), turn right onto Highway 7 and drive two miles and then turn left at the park entrance.
Some of the amenities that make this park an amazing getaway for people with diverse interests include hiking trails, 44 campsites, swimming pool, archery range, boat ramps, meeting facilities, boat rentals, skeet range, tennis court, docks, 16 cabins, a 77-room lodge, gift shop, bike trails, 18-hole golf course, tackle shop, restaurant, game courts, and a playground.
These amenities make this park the perfect place to enjoy a whole host of activities including fishing, boating, skeet shooting, camping, archery, swimming., tennis, and golf. The park is also a great setting for retreats, family reunions, meetings and any event that you would like to host in a serene and relaxed environment. Furthermore, if you have a dog, you can also bring your pooch along for the fun, exercise, and relaxation. That said, you will have to follow standard South Carolina state park rules.
Some of the rules that relate to dogs and dog owners include the following. First, dogs are not allowed into or close to lodge areas. Furthermore, you must either keep your dog in an enclosure or on a leash that is no more than six feet long at all times. If your dog is noisy or threatens and harasses other wildlife, then you shall be asked to escort your pooch out of the park. That said, dogs are allowed into most outdoor areas as long as you have the dog under your immediate control.
