When you enter Hoover Park through the street-side parking area on the south side of the area, you'll be bombarded with gorgeous views of open recreational fields and shaded spaces to relax under. You'll have to keep Fido on a leash before you get to the dog park, but the parking area is right next to the dog park so it will only be a short walk. The pretty dog park is surrounded by log fencing and chicken wire, with separate areas for large dogs and small dogs under 35 pounds, both with a double-gate entrance for extra safety.
There park is made up of 60% shade, with sun covering the grassy and sandy terrain and its features, such as dog and human-sized water fountains, clean-up stations, benches, trash bins, picnic tables, and agility equipment in both dog-sized areas. Each area provides nearly an acre of open space to run around in, and sometimes special features such as kiddie pools in the summer and toys to play with. There is always a decent amount of pups at this park, making socialization an easy thing to accomplish here.Ā
If you need some one-on-one time with Fido though, the larger park of Hoover Park is dog-friendly to leashed dogs, offering a .4-miles walking track around the park and a clean creek that pups can play in to cool off during the summer.
No matter how much time you spend in this splendidĀ dog park, you'll be in awe at the care and love put into it when it was constructed for Hoover's four-legged residents. This park remains one of the best to play with your dog in the Hoover area.
