If you and your pooch are hitting the open road, it’s a good idea to know where to find the dog friendly rest areas. When traveling westbound on Interstate 20 in Alabama, there’s a pawsome pit stop at Mile Marker 85, located about 10 minutes east of Cottondale. Here your pooch can get out to stretch their four legs and breathe in some fresh air.
When visiting this rest area, your pup will think they
are actually at a park. There’s plenty of grass for them to explore. Their
sniffer will get right to work as they check out all the new smells. Tall trees
make this place nice and shady in the summer, and there’s nothing a dog loves
doing more than marking up a new tree! There are designated pet areas, so watch
for posted signs. Do your part to keep the rest stop smelling fresh and free of doggy
debris, and always have a clean-up bag on hand. Don’t forget to give your pooch a refreshing drink of water. Just don’t
give them too much or they’ll be begging for another stop in no time!
Two legged visitors will be happy to know clean restrooms are available. And you can refill your water bottles at the drinking fountains or
water spigots. If you are running low on snacks, stop by the vending machines
and load up. Be aware doggos are not allowed inside the amenities building. If you have a packed lunch, enjoy an
outdoor meal at one of the picnic tables or shelters.
No bones about it, your dog will love stopping by this
puptacular rest area!
