Driving along the North Carolina Interstate 40 can be fun and adventurous. But your pup does need a break every so often, and the I-40 Exit 10 Mile Marker East Rest Stop is the pawfect spot! Located near Waterville Lake, this is the first rest stop in North Carolina off the I-40 when coming in from Tennessee.
Here, you will find lots of parking, restrooms, and a large grass area for your pup to explore. There's also telephones, a visitor center, concessions, and so much more. Your pup will love to take a potty break here in this beautiful area surrounded by many trees, as this area is adjacent to the Harmon Den Wildlife Management Area, and near Pigeon River which leads into Waterville Lake. There are clean-up bags available near the grassy areas for your convenience, as well as garbage bins. Just be sure to keep your adventure dog on a leash no longer than six feet.
With many picnic tables, this stop is a furrific place to have an outdoor lunch or snack. Grab some munchies from the vending machines, and fill up your water bottles.Â
If you wish to camp nearby, check out the Harmon Den Area off of Exit 7 which offers 54 miles of trails to hike, and a campground, along with roadside camping in certain areas. Also, the nearby Waterville Lake is pawtastic for boating and fishing.
