In Kittitas County, Washington lies the city of Ellensburg, originally named Ellensburgh until it was decided to make it more phonetically accurate and the city dropped the ‘h’. Ellensburg is a beautiful city surrounded by Kittitas Valley. This city in Washington State is a lover of animals and nature, for sure, they love especially do which is why they just had to incorporate a great off-leash dog area right into their city park.
Irene Rinehart River Park or as some call it IRRP is a family park that is filled with trails, disc golf, boat launches, picnic areas, volleyball, swimming and even an off-leash area for your pooch. The park in its entirety is 17 acres. Many people love to BBQ here and just spend an amazing family day surrounded by nature.
The Irene Rinehart Riverfront Park Off Leash Area is an open, unfenced area of around 0.5 acres where your dog can run, play, interact and socialize with other dogs. However, since the off-leash area is not fenced, it is important that your dog has a good handle on voice commands. Dogs are encouraged to take full advantage of the field and even are able to swim in this area. You can even walk around part of the pond off-leash. While visiting the park be sure to always clean up after yourself and your beloved pet. Bring doggie waste bags and some water to make your day a bit more enjoyable.Â
Overall, this lovely little dog park is a great place to spend the day with your pup, practice off-leash training and just get in a great day of socialization. I highly encourage you to check IRRP if you are in the area. Bring a frisbee or your favorite toy and make a whole day out of it. You and your pup will have a blast!
