The Jager and Friends Dog Park is located in the town of Somerset, Pensylvania. The dog park has its own decent sized parking lot and an area of ground which has been specially conditioned for the off-leash exercising of dogs. It is fully enclosed with above head height chain-link fencing. It has a staging area for leashing and unleashing dogs. There is a separate section for small dogs.
The dog park is open to the elements and there are no trees inside the perimeter fence. The off-leash area is mostly surfaced with grass though there are some patches of dirt. The park can get muddy underfoot after heavy rain. There are plans in progress to install an agility and specialties zone for added doggy entertainment. A water fountain has been installed and there are poop bags available on-site. Owners using the off-leash facility must clean up after their dog and deposit used poop bags in the containers provided.
Children under the age of 10 are not permitted in the Jager and Friends dog park. Children over 10 must be accompanied by an adult at all times. All dogs using the facility must be correctly licensed, have their vaccinations up to date, and be wearing an identification tag. Pet owners are responsible for filling in any holes dug by their dog. Owners must carry a leash with them at all times when inside the off-leash area. Only two dogs per handler are allowed inside at any one time. The dog park may be closed during the usual opening hours if the weather is very bad.
There is a walking trail running through the park and a gazebo shelter with benches has been installed to give pet owners shelter. A porta potty provides restroom facilities for the humans. The Jager and Friends Dog Park is run on a voluntary basis so donations to help maintain and improve the dog park are readily accepted and very appreciated.
