Before we begin, it is important to note that this beach is not available to canines year round. This beach specifically only allows access to dogs between October 1st and March 31st. This is not just an off-leash rule. All canines, even those on a leash, are not allowed here during the spring and summer months. This dog beach is the only beach in any reasonable distance open to canines during the fall and winter months when many of the other beaches or parks are snow covered or closed.
The beach here does not allow any canines in any of the facilities or on the boardwalk, but they are allowed on the sand on the beach. They only allow canines to go off leash for a portion of the year here at this beach, being from the beginning of October to the end of March.
During the spring and summer months, this is a well-trafficked beach. During these same months, horses are also allowed access so it is important to make sure your canine is not aggressive and does not have any issues with horses.
During the spring and summer months this park hosts bonfires, swimming lessons, fireworks, and a wide variety of other events. This beach has a skatepark nearby and keeps a lifeguard on duty during the summer. You are required to bring your own dog waste bags and clean up after your canine. Water is available however you would need to bring your own dog bowl as your canine is not allowed in the facilities or on the boardwalk.
During the winter months, this makes for an excellent place to bring your canine to get some exercise, throw around a frisbee, or just walk down the beach. Your canine is allowed anywhere on the beach here provided they stay in sight and under your voice control.
