Laurelhurst Park Off Leash Dog Area

Portland Parks are known to be beautiful and well maintained, Laurelhurst Park, in particular, looks like a smaller version of the famous Central Park. However, this park is greatly known for its off-leash dog area that everyone can enjoy with their companion. This place has over one acre of lush green grass, evergreen pines, ducks, birds, and paths to walk your furry friend on.

The community is very friendly and welcoming, and there’s a body of water your pup can play in. Although the entire park is not off-leash, there is a significantly large part of it that doesn’t require it, allowing your dog to roam around and get to know their soon to be friends.

The park has a lot of joggers, cyclists, and picnic action so if you are in the off-leash area make sure you keep an eye on your buddy, as they may just run where their nose takes them. You can rent sites with picnic tables if you’d like to bring a larger group of people and reserve the area.

Laurelhurst Park is often shared by other animals, such as turtles and birds so make sure that your Fido is up to date on their vaccinations and recall skills to ensure they do not get caught in a squirrel staring contest. There are many stations to drop off your doodoo bags to maintain that crisp and floral scent that runs through the park.

The area is so large, you may not be able to see it all in one day, but if you make it over from the pond area, there is a basketball court, soccer field and playground area that you can enjoy. There is no need to fret about an entrance fee, but parking may be harder to find in the summer months so be prepared to walk the distance. It is definitely worth seeing in the summer, fall and even the winter months.
