Description

Located in the heart of urban Jackson, LeFleur’s Bluff State Park boasts of a lush green spot where people can go for respite amidst the hustle and bustle of the city. Aside from camping, it has other activities to offer such as fishing, nature trails, picnic spots, a driving range and a mini-golf course. The park is named after Louis Fleur, an explorer of French-Canadian descent who established a training post on the river banks in the late 1700s.

The state park offers multiple trails, and most of them interconnect and are situated just behind the Museum of Natural Science. It is best to park at the old Mayes Lake Camp and begin hiking on the Purple Trail unless you are visiting just for the museum. The Purple Trail leads to the other trails and does not loop. The great thing about the park is that it allows dogs, so can take your beloved pooch on a hike, as long as he is on a leash.

At LeFleur’s Bluff State Park, you get to spend time with each other in a different setting because let’s face it, the house can get boring sometimes, and you need adventures now and then. Your fur buddy, however, should not be in the playground area. However, they are allowed entry to the camping and tent areas of the LeFleur’s Bluff State Park.

Rich in heritage, the park encompasses more than 300 acres of space and has twenty-eight sites available for RV and tent camping, and all are equipped with electrical and water hook-ups. The developed camping site has a bathhouse with hot showers and a central sewage dumping station. All campsites can be booked in advance online. Park visitors are reminded that as per Mississippi law, smoking is not allowed in any government building.

There are ten shaded primitive tent sites located in proximity to the lake and are just within walking distance to the showers and water. These tents are ideal for scout groups. The shaded and spacious section of LeFleur’s Bluff State Park has grills and picnic tables overlooking a massive playground. There are numerous picnic pavilions available for reservation.

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
