The McArthur Park Dog Park is an off-leash dog park in Little Rock, Arkansas. The dog park is located in the corner of the city's McArthur Park and has a sixty place parking lot. The facility is maintained by the Little Rock parks department but relies heavily on sponsorships from residents to function.
Pet parents wishing to honor a beloved fur friend, whether in this realm or the next, can purchase a life-size metal silhouette for the price of $500 which will be inscribed and attached to the dog park fence. Pet owners also have an option of placing a memorial brick stamped with a commemorative message in the off-leash patio area for $100.Â
While the sponsorships are very helpful to keep the dog park open, the dog park is free to all, and they are not a requirement for using it. This dog park in Little Rock or McArthur Unleashed as locals prefer to call it, covers almost two acres of the park and is divided into two enclosures. To enter the toy breed area pups need to weigh in at under thirty pounds. Large dogs should not be let loose in the small dog area.Â
There are no amenities such as agility equipment so going to this dog for any pup is for socialization with their furry brethren only. The interactions between the dogs in the off-leash areas are expected to be conducted at the correct level. If it passes the boundaries of being acceptable, then pet parents, who should have a leash in hand at all times, must step in and stop it.
Parents of human children should be aware that children under ten are strictly prohibited from entering either of the off-leash dog runs. Sadly, Pitbulls, Staffordshire Terriers, American or otherwise, as well as not being permitted off-leash away from home are not allowed to be off-leash at the dog park and if found to be, may well be impounded.Â
