Mr. Murphy had a passion for dogs and was instrumental in the planning and development of this dog play haven. Currently maintained by the Roger's Humane Society and the community group Paws for a Good Cause, this public park permits entrance to all owners and their favorite canine pals completely free of charge.Â
Though young in age, Mr. Murphy had a tremendous vision of what the ideal dog play space should like. Included in his master plan for the park are three fenced enclosures with designated spaces for small dogs, larger dogs, and a multi-purpose run.Â
Off-leash play is the focus of the runs, but it is important for owners to bring a leash with them as well. Also on the property are both chairs and picnic tables in areas which provide shade to allow families a quiet place to relax and chat. No visit to a park is complete without getting a little sweaty and dirty!Â
If your dog has done just that; not to worry, Murphy Memorial Dog Park has both a tub for dog bathing and water to quench Fido's thirst. This dog playground is equipped with many conveniences including poop bags for owners to clean up after their dogs, and an agility course to help keep Fido's brain and body activated.Â
There are no official rules in place regarding use of the dog park. To ensure all dogs are protected from disease, it is a good idea for your dog to possess current vaccinations. City dog licensing is also recommended. For a fun time for Fido and the whole family, plan a trip to Murphy Memorial Dog Park!Â
