The Murray Playground Dog Run is an off-leash dog park in Long Island, New York. This dog park is a small area of the Murray Playground Public Park which has been conditioned and made suitable for dogs to be exercised off their leashes. If arriving at the off-leash area via the main park, dogs must be kept on a leash until inside the staging areas.
The same goes if owners are entering the dog park from the street, no unleashing until the gate of the staging area has been firmly closed. This rectangular stretch of ground which is covered with dirt and stones is for shared use by all sizes of dogs. Although there is some unusual artwork inside the perimeter fencing, there are not many amenities for either pups or owners.
There is just one shady area at the Murray Playground Dog Run where there is a large tree in one corner but other than that it is a bit of a barren wasteland. Most pups would still enjoy some off-leash time here as while it's not hugely spacious, there is more than enough room for a game of throw and fetch with a ball.
There is a hose which has a constant water supply so owners can give their pups a drink if they are thirsty or freshen them up if they get dusty. The same as all other dog parks in New York, the Murray Playground Dog Run in Long Island has a set of rules and regulations pet owners are obliged to abide by.
Furbabies who do not know how to control their temper, or don't play with other dogs in the off-leash area in a socially acceptable way, are not welcome and should be taken home. It's also socially unacceptable for pet owners to ignore their pet's poop. A pocketful of poop bags is an essential requirement when visiting this dog park, so is using them and then disposing of them in the on-site trash cans.
