Norman & Nellie Byrd Dog Park - RELOCATED

Formerly managed by the Yakima Greenway Foundation, Norman & Nellie Byrd Dog Park of Yakima, Washington, relocated in May of 2010, within Sherman Park of South Yakima. The park's previous location featured a fully-fenced property situated right next to the parking lot and was approximately 1/4 miles north from Rotary Lake. The Norman & Nellie Byrd Dog Park has since relocated nearby the Greenway parking lot in Sherman Park.

The Central Washington Humane Society currently manages and cares for the park. The ground is mostly grass with patches of dirt covering the area around the pavilion. So, make sure you bring a towel along for Fido since it could get a little muddy when it rains. The Norman & Nellie Byrd Dog Park also has large trees surrounding the location and a staging area at the gate. Owners can take advantage of benches, shade, and plenty of room for Fido to romp around freely. 

The new location of the Norman & Nellie Byrd Dog Park provides a beautiful setting for owners and dogs alike. Although there is no water available, visitors can bring in their water supplies to make sure their furry companions stay well hydrated during the summer. At times, owners will leave water in jugs for other puppies as well. Visitors are also required to pick after their dogs and be able to maintain complete voice control of their pets while on the premises.
