North Beach Oceanside Dog Park
Many would agree that the North Beach neighborhood of Miami Beach has plenty to offer people and their puppers. This charming neighborhood is full of tropical mid-century modern buildings that will give you a taste of old Miami, all within close proximity of the ocean. Possibly the best treat of all is the North Beach Oceanside Dog Park. Once known as the North Shore Open Space Park, this furbulous space boasts not one, but two dog-friendly areas your dog is gonna love to explore!
Take the Collins Ave and 81st Street entrance into the park to the dog park for a safe place for your doggo to romp around and enjoy some pawsitive socialization off-leash. You can find everything you need here, including doggy waste bags and trash receptacles, and doggy drinking fountains. Now all you need is your dog’s favorite ball! For optimum safety, there are two separate fenced off areas, one for small breeds and another for the big guys. There is also plenty of shade, and some walking paths within the dog park. You’re guaranteed a tuckered out pup after some time spent here!
If you've got a beach dog, then your pup is in luck, because on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, they can romp on the beach! That's right, from 1:30 PM to 5:30 PM on these days, the pooches take over a section of North Beach Oceanside Park's beach area to kick up the sand and hit the water off leash! The dog-friendly section during these special pup hours can be found between 80th and 81st Streets, but note that if you come at any other time, dogs are not allowed. Be sure to bring water and clean-up bags for your beach adventure, and leave nothing behind.
This park has a much more laid-back vibe than many other Miami Beach Parks, so it’s a great place to go if you’d like to avoid the bigger crowds. In the surrounding park you’ll find restrooms, pavilions, picnic areas, barbecue grills, a fitness area and playgrounds. The paved pathways wind through the trees, with a salty ocean breeze to top it off.
If you’re driving to the park, you should be able to find street parking for little or no charge. Some things to remember are to keep your dog leashed while not within the fenced-off dog park or on the beach during designated dog hours, and never leave your dog unattended. Be sure your dog if vaccinated and licensed, and wearing their tags on their collars.
