Optimist Dog Park

The Optimist Dog Park is an off-leash dog park in Hickory, North Carolina. The dog park, which is also known by the name of Fairbrook Optimist Dog Park and was once one of the city's baseball fields, has a decent-sized parking lot. This dog park in Hickory, which is one of many in this dog-loving city, is a spacious piece of old sports field which has been reconditioned and now serves as a super, off-leash dog exercising area. 

They love their dogs more than their sport in Hickory which for the local canines is not a bad thing. The off-leash dog park has been fully fenced on all sides with four-foot high chain-link, and this has also been used to separate it into two size orientated runs for breeds of different statures. 

Pet parents taking their fur pup to this dog park in Hickory need to remember to keep their rabies tag attached to their collar. Any dog not wearing one won't be allowed in. Although the dog park isn't officially monitored, all the pet parents going there are vigilant and don't want their furbabies put at risk of catching the horrendous disease by someone who hasn't bothered keeping their pet's shots up to date. 

They also keep their pups out of danger of contracting bacterial infections by scooping poop and expect every pet owner going to the dog park to do the same. There are a couple of things which pet parents can't do when in the off-leash areas. One is to wander around without a shirt or shoes, even during a heatwave. 

The other is to groom their dog. Rearranging a pet's hairdo needs to be done at home and not at the dog park. Pet parents really shouldn't climb on the agility equipment either, though this can be tempting if trying to demonstrate how to do it to a pup, it is not strong enough to support the weight of a human.
