Description

This is a members-only dog park. It makes for a good park for the residents nearby, but those who are only temporarily in the area may find the fee's and requirements a bit extreme. Registration requires $80 your first year, for a single dog, for those who do not reside in the Lancaster area. $65 of these fees are annually charged. Residents of the Lancaster area earn a bit of a break, but it is only nominal.

The exorbitant costs associated with this park are not reflected in the quality or maintenance of these grounds. The costs essentially only grant you the guarantee that all the dog owners have gone through the same process, assuring you they are all vaccinated for rabies. The amenities here are lower than your average dog park and significantly lower than your typical membership only dog park.

Waste disposal bags are available at the entrance to the dog park, and garbage cans are also placed at the entrance to your dog park. There is no agility equipment, and seating is limited. The benches that provide seating do not have any canopy or trees overhead to protect from the sun. A majority of the park does not have shade; only a small shaded section can be found directly opposite the entrance.

The significant upside to this park is the amount of room it has. It is large enough for most canines to get in a good run. Canines that enjoy games like fetch or frisbee will find themselves at home at this dog park. The grass stays green here during the spring and summer months, remaining in that condition until late in the fall.

The key fob membership means people tend to take better care of the space, picking up after their canines well and keeping the area relatively cleaner. Overall, the Overlook Dog Park is excellent for the residents of the area, but if you are traveling to find the best dog park, you will likely have better luck elsewhere.

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
