The Petit Jean State Park is a pet-friendly recreational area near Morrilton, Arkansas. This state park has got so much to offer; it's more like a resort in the woods than a park. It is an idyllic place for a quiet getaway with the family, or without them, so long as you have your best fur buddy with you.
For those who want to make the most of the amenities at the Petit Jean State Park and do more than the day use activities, there are pet-friendly cabins to rent as well as a lodge which accommodates pets in their rooms. Other than secluded cabins in the woods, there are lakeside yurts for hire, a public swimming pool, and tennis courts.
If you've got a pilot's license and a plane, this park even has its own airport you can land at. Places for pets are limited though so making a reservation well in advance if you're planning on taking your fur buddy with you is highly recommended. A copy of your pup's current vaccinations is required when making the reservation, and there is a small surcharge for pet stays.
Dogs do need to be leashed while on the campsites and trails, but it is such a beautiful place, they'll hardly notice the restraint. Lake Bailey, which is a one hundred acre stretch of water in the park, is perfect for fishing, canoeing, kayaking, or even, for the not so nautical, pedal boating.
Boat rentals are available during the summer months only although the park is open to visitors all year round. The park's natural features are enhanced by the seasons with fall seeing the woodlands at their most stunning. The hiking trails, of which there are a total of eight, run through the park passing beautiful landmarks like the Cedar Falls, which is a ninety-five-foot waterfall, and Bear Cave.
