Does your pup want to see something pawsome? Then plan a visit to Point No Point Lighthouse so they can check out the oldest lighthouse on Puget Sound. Your doggo will love feeling the sea breeze run through their fur as they explore this 61 acre park.
When your pooch arrives, they will want to immediately hit
the trail. Follow the one mile path along the shoreline. If your doggo wants to
get a good look at the area, take the stairs up to the viewing platform. Gaze
out over the water and see if you can spot some seals, seabirds, and maybe even
a whale. The trail then meanders through a lovely forest until it empties out
into a neighborhood. Even though it’s a short hike, bring plenty of water for
your furry pal and let them have a drink break. And no matter where you go in
the park, make sure you have a couple clean up bags on hand and ready to
go.
After you finish your walk, take a stroll around the
Lighthouse. There are a some benches on the grounds, so paws for a break and
enjoy the view. From here you have stunning views of Whidbey Island and Port
Townsend. When your pooch is ready to move on, make your way down to the
gorgeous beach. Unlike most of the rocky beaches on Puget Sound, this one is
sandy and easy on your dog’s paws. Wander along the surf and let your pup
search for the pawfect piece of driftwood. Search for seashells or fly a kite. The current is too strong for swimming, but this is a great fishing spot. If
you time things just right, you and your pooch could have a delicious salmon
dinner!
A visit to Point No Point Lighthouse will make your
pupster barking happy!
