There are some downsides. Even though this has been deemed a leashless dog park, it is not fenced. Dogs prone to running off will need to stay on a leash or you can kiss them goodbye.Ā
This area can also get a ton of traffic, making it difficult to enjoy some time with your canine if they are prone to aggression or cause any conflicts with other canines. Dogs outside of their typical territorial zone are less like to display any kind of aggression, but because of the consequences of a bit, it is unwise to risk it.
The park is free, which is great news for you and your furry friend, but some of the amenities you might expect may be lacking. They do have poop bags available as well as watering locations and restrooms, however, the general maintenanceĀ of the grounds is not optimal.
There are some incredible upsides though. Your dog can swim here. Even for a beachfront dog park, this is very uncommon. Typically dogs are not allowed to swim due to the use of the river. Often boats or other water vessels mean it is a danger for canines to swim around. The river is relatively safe and pollutant free and should make a fine place to spend the day with your dog.
The rest of the park is fairly vast and they do allow you to take your dog through the trails available there, however it is important to keep your dog on a leash through the remainder of the park. Overall this is a great place to take your canine to burn some energy and have a great time.
