Salsbury Point Park may be small, but the views are grand. This park is located along the shore of the Hood Canal, a short jaunt away from Port Gamble in Poulsbo. A highlight of Salsbury Point Park is the gorgeous view of the Hood Canal Bridge set against the Olympic Mountains. Whether you want to come visit this park on a foggy morning with your canine and coffee, or watch the sunset over the mountain backdrop, this park is the place to go.
Dogs are not allowed on the designated swimming areas at this park, but they can still enjoy the sights, sounds and smells of the ocean with their humans. The rocky beach offers boat access, and its own share of wildlife. There is excellent crabbing to be done here, and on a calm day you may even spot a pod of dolphins. On windy, rainy days, the beach can get a bit rough. If you head out on a boat with your adventure pal, don’t forget his or her doggy life jacket!
The rest of the park features plenty of things to do, or not do, if you’re in need of some rest and relaxation. Your pup will love to sniff and play on the large grassy areas. On a sunny day, why not pack a lunch and enjoy the picnic areas? There are grills and shelters available here. Bring along some dog biscuits for your good boy or girl! The restrooms are open seasonally from April 1st to September 30th. There is free parking, and even a playground for the kids.
As with most parks in Kitsap County, dogs are not allowed on the athletic fields, playgrounds, or swimming beaches. They need to stay leashed and picked up after at all times, so you may want to bring along some doggy waste bags. If you enjoy marine life, sunsets, or mountain views, this is a great park to explore with your best pal!
