Sparks Marina Off-Leash Dog Park is a public dog park located on the south side of the Sparks Marina Park in Reno, Nevada. The city park is very popular among dog walkers in the community due to its convenient location and the other amenities it offers, such as volleyball courts, playgrounds, and picnic areas. Not only is it a great place to bring your canine companion, family members of all ages and interests will find something fun to do here. There are also plenty of trails, walking paths, and scenic viewpoints around this beautiful park that features a 77-acre lake.
The Sparks Marina Off-Leash Dog Park is also the only dog park in the area that provides canines with water access and an opportunity to swim around with their four-legged buddies. Approximately one acre in size, the dog run features everything you would want from a dog park, from drinking fountains, close proximity to restrooms, and several dog waste clean-up stations. There are mature trees growing throughout the dog park so finding a shaded spot to cool off and relax in isn't an issue.
The park’s surface consists of grass and some sandy areas by the shoreline, so keep that in mind if you let your pooch take a dip. Though the park is securely fenced on land, some dogs might be able to swim around the fence located in the lake, especially if they see ducks that often relax nearby.. Unless your pooch is well-trained and responds immediately to recall, you might consider going on a leashed walk in the park instead, the trails run approximately two miles and are well-lit, allowing for evening walks and canine exercise.
The Sparks Marina Off-Leash Dog Park is definitely worth the visit, especially since it features views of mountain-tops and lakeside. There is plenty of parking, even on the sunny weekends so pack a towel for your pooch and stop by this wonderful location for some canine socialization.
