Description

Outdoor adventures with your dog create a strong bond and lasting memories. The Steamboat Rock State Park is an excellent place to camp with your dog. This beautiful park has 3,500 acres of picturesque land that borders Banks Lake. This state park welcomes dogs of all sizes and doesn’t charge additional fees. However, there are small fees for dog-friendly lodging.

Your dog needs up-to-date vaccinations, license, and identification tags to visit this park. You must leash your dog and keep them by your side at all times. Your dog can’t go inside of public buildings or swimming areas. However, they are welcome in campsites. The campground also has a designated area for dogs to walk and get exercise.

The campgrounds are the perfect place to bond with your dog. However, this state park also features hiking trails, fishing piers, fish cleaning stations, boating, watercrafts, swimming, waterskiing, nordic skiing, ice fishing, ice climbing, snowshoeing, bald eagle viewing, playgrounds, rock climbing, wildlife viewing, volleyball court, bird watching, basketball court, mountain biking, and an amphitheater.

Inquire with the park office at the time of your reservation regarding pet-friendly areas of the state park. The campgrounds welcome dogs but rules can change, and there might be other areas of the Steamboat Rock State Park that allow dogs during your visit.

Preparation is essential when camping with your dog. Bring along supplies such as dog food, fresh water, treats, toys, blankets and a first aid kit for emergencies. This park has a designated area to walk your dog so you can also meet other pet parents and set up play dates or meeting points for your dogs to socialize and play.

Overall, Steamboat Rock State Park is a beautiful state park that allows you to have a fun adventure and enjoy the outdoors with your dog. Always remove your dog from any uncomfortable or aggressive situation related to wildlife or other visitors at the park.

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
