Beal Slough stream snakes through Stransky Dog Run and provides a place for a refreshing splash and some “rock-tripping” for sure-footed canines. Note that the dog run is adjacent to railroad tracks and sensitive dogs may react to the noise. Ample free parking can be found near the gate, and within the fenced area is a paved walking path for strolling, training, or cooling down after playing.
The city asks that pup parents fill the holes their dogs dig, replace any loose turf, and keep their fur babies leashed until they enter the double-gated area. In addition, human food inside the run is a no-no, but dog treats are allowed. Be sure your pup has a license and proof of a current rabies vaccination before visiting. And while the larger Peterson Park is open from 5 AM to 11 PM, the city only allows dogs in their dog parks during daylight hours.
