A favorite among locals and visitors alike, Rickman’s Run at Holmes Lake Park is the place to bring your four-legged friend in Lincoln. With plenty of room to run, play, and explore, this pawpular canine hangout will definitely set your dog’s tail a-waggin’!

Rickman’s Run boasts 24 acres of fenced-in space for dogs of all sizes to blow off steam. One acre is reserved for the small pups, while the rest is allocated for the big woofers. Pet parents and their pooches love this park for its varied terrain, which includes flat spaces, rolling hills, lots of trees, and a creek that runs through the large dog area. Water-loving pups can often be seen cooling off in the creek and hopping on the stepping stones that traverse it. 

Dogs who prefer to keep their paws dry can stretch their legs on the many trails that weave through the run. From concrete paths to forested trails, there’s ample opportunity to explore new smells and get some exercise. Many pet parents enjoy walking the trails with their canine companions as well. Other amenities for people include a covered restroom, shade structures, benches, and parking.

Be sure to keep an eye on your pooch at all times and clean up after them to help keep Rickman’s Run a happy place for everyone. Pet waste stations are located throughout the park, but it’s a good idea to always have a couple of bags on your person since the place is so big. It’s also recommended to bring a towel or wet wipes if your pup loves the water; chances are they’ll get muddy from playing in the creek. Bring water too as there are no drinking fountains.
