The Pawnee Lake State Recreation Area is located in Middle Creek, Nebraska and can be accessed by car via the Pawnee Lake State Recreation Road or NW 126th Street. The park is about 2,544 acres with 740 of those being water. If your fur buddy prefers lake activities, this is the place to be because the events are endless.
This recreational area provides all kinds of activities, most of which are not often found in state parks. Pawnee Lake includes an archery range, biking, boating, camping, canoeing, equestrian trails, fishing, hiking, hunting, a playground, shooting range, and swimming. Due to the vast body of water in the middle of the park, visitors often come here as a fishing destination.
Allow your dog to tag along in the fishing fun because it will surely make for an excellent adventure. All boats are welcome on this lake so no need to worry about any regulations. After a long day of boating, dock it and head over to one of Pawnee’s two swimming beaches. Stretch your legs on the sand and cool off by playing fetch along the shore.
For those who prefer to stay on land, have no fear. Pawnee Lake State Recreation Area boasts six miles of trails for those who prefer hiking and similar activities. Pack up some snacks and a small bag for a memorable hike geared for all ages and our four-legged friends. Just be sure to remember to keep the pooch on a leash due to some of the other sportsmen in the area.
The RV and tent sites offer almost 200 camping pads with water, showers, and bathrooms. Dogs are also permitted on a leash here as to not disturb the other guests. Please always be sure to pick up after the pups and bring proper identification and vaccinations upon entering the park. Overall, Pawnee Lake is enjoyable for outdoor-loving people and dogs of all ages.
