There are a few trees and structures that provide some shade through some hours of the day, but for the most part, you will subject to the will of the sun at this dog park. There is water available for you and your canine here so you can stay hydrated, remember to bring some sunscreen. This park does have some seating in the form of picnic tables on top of large concrete slabs.Â
There is no canopy or pavilion overhead of these picnic tables, and not much shade is provided. The Sunset Dog Park provides most of the regular dog park amenities you would expect a local dog park to have. Poop bags are regularly stocked, and there are garbage cans scattered throughout the park. These garbage cans are emptied regularly, and the grounds here stay reasonably well maintained.Â
The Sunset Dog Park itself is quite pretty. There are rock formations and stacks of brick along the fence line for aesthetic purposes and work as makeshift agility equipment. The fence here does separate the grounds into two different areas, one for large canines over 30 pounds and another for small canines and puppies under that weight limit.Â
Due to a high frequency of calls to emergency authorities from the dog parks here, the rules and regulations have been posted and are strictly enforced. It is wise for you to get a good understanding of what the city expects from you as a dog owner and what you can do to be safe and responsible when visiting this dog park. The park's rules and regulations can be found on their website.
