Tietze Park

If you’re looking for a great place to walk your dog in Dallas’ Lakewood Heights neighborhood, Tietze Park is perfect for you! This park was first established in 1924, and in the years since then, it has grown into a beautiful community park with plenty of pawesome activities for both pups and their owners. Dogs are welcome to join you in this fun-filled park on-leash.

Many locals enjoy taking their dogs for walks on Tietze Park’s paved jogging path. This path winds through the whole park, and it passes by tennis and basketball courts, a playground, and a swimming pool. Plus, you’ll also pass a plaza filled with benches—perfect taking a break during your walk!

The path also goes by a few exercise equipment stations with “pet parking posts” where you can tie your dog’s leash while you’re working out. You'll also pass an open green space where you can run and play with your dog. Over 75 live oak, cedar, and bois d’arc trees line the walking path, keeping it shady and cool on those hot Texas days. If you need to clean up after your pup during your walk, there are four doggy bag dispensers located throughout the park. If you or your pup gets thirsty, Tietze Park has both human and doggy water fountains available!

If all this excitement makes you and your dog hungry, Tietze Park has a historic sandstone picnic pavilion that was built in 1934. You can bring your own lunch for you and your pup, or you can buy a snack from the pavilion’s concession stand.

Tietze Park is a furrific local park with a great walking path you and your dog will both love! Remember to clean up after your pup while you’re in the park, and have fun spending the day at this fun-filled park!
