Your pooch will agree- a visit to Duck Town Park is the pawfect way to spend an afternoon. This furrific park is located in the heart of the Town of Duck in North Carolina’s famous Outer Banks. It is also nestled right on the shore of the Currituck Sound and provides your pal with a beautiful spot for getting some exercise.
Duck Town Park spreads across 11 acres and is comprised
of four different ecosystems. A small network of trails meanders through the
park. Your pal will love strolling along the paths and discovering the maritime
deciduous forest, the maritime evergreen forest, the willow swamp, and the
marsh. While wandering through the park, you’ll see a lovely amphitheater. When
the weather is warm, theater performances, magic shows, and concerts are held
here. Check the schedule to find an event your doggo can attend.
The park also has access to the town’s boardwalk. Follow
this wooden walkway for a mellow stroll. Since it juts out into the sound, your
pal can get an up close look at the water. From start to finish, the boardwalk
is less than a mile and only a portion of it runs through the park. It’s definitely
worth exploring the whole thing so your pal can get a feel for the charming
Town of Duck.
Benches are strategically located throughout the park, so
visitors can sit and enjoy the puptacular seaside scenery. Or you can pack a
sandwich and have a leisurely lunch on one of picnic tables. Just don’t forget
to bring a biscuit or two for your pup. Be sure to keep the park smelling fresh
by taking advantage of the dog stations and trash cans. Restrooms are available for pet parents and there is a drinking fountain for dogs and their people. This is one park your pup will want to visit again
and again!
