The Surf City Bark Park is an off-leash dog park in the town of Surf City, North Carolina. While Surf City is an ocean-side urbanization located on Topsail Island, this dog park is not a beach. This dog park in Surf City is a shady and wooded nook which any dog would be happy to spend some off-leash time in.
There are two enclosures at the Surf City Bark Park which make up this off-leash dog park in Surf City. One side is specifically for toy breeds and the other for larger dogs. Both compounds are fenced with five-foot-high, forest-green, chain-link which not only blends in with the environment but makes the runs safe for dogs to be without the restraint of a leash.
The dog runs for both sides are studded with lovely mature pine trees, and the dirt surface has been given a liberal covering of bark chippings. The lucky pups who get to use this dog park in Surf City don't need to bring their surfboard or their skateboard as there's lots of agility apparatus for them to pit their skills against. They all love the ramps, steps, elevated tunnels and jumping circles.
It definitely makes a change from digging holes on the beach or building sandcastles. There's a dog-friendly water fountain for when the pups work up a thirst, a plentiful supply of poop bags for their owners to use and dumpsters too. Pet parents should never forget that it's their duty to scoop up all their pups excrement and dispose of it responsibly.
Pet parents have been provided with benches for seating in this Surf City dog park. But even though the Surf City Bark Park never gets overly busy, they shouldn't rest on their laurels. Pups need to be properly supervised all the time they're at the park. Any infringement of the rules, such as aggression or overzealous mounting between fur friends, should be halted as soon as it starts.
