Waggin’ Tails Dog Park is a public dog park located in the Veterans Administration Park in Leavenworth, Kansas. It is very popular among the dog owners in the community due to its size, cleanliness, and offered features. It is the perfect place to take your pooch for some off-leash exercise and socialization, especially if you live in the area.
The six-acre Waggin’ Tails Dog Park was opened in 2010 and has a simple, open space layout. It consists of two grassy areas that are always operational and a rotational run that allows for grass recovery. The first area is four acres in size and accommodates large dog breeds, providing more than enough space for them to stretch out their legs and play.Â
The other section is meant for small dog breeds, however, unlike many other dog parks, it is actually fairly sized with two acres of land for dogs to explore. The dog park is filled with tall, mature trees that provide plenty of shade and has a varied terrain with some large rocks canines can climb and agility obstacles they can enjoy. The park also features several cedar benches owners can relax on while they watch their pooches play.
Both of the areas are securely fenced and have a double-gated entry system which minimizes the risk of any canines slipping out. Both areas are also equipped with doggie and human water fountains that are in service from April to October.Â
In addition to the above, there are free, biodegradable waste bag dispensers and several trash cans in the dog park that owners are strongly encouraged to take advantage of when visiting to help keep the park poop-free. To top it all off, the Waggin’ Tails Dog Park has public, handicap accessible restrooms close to the dog run which is very convenient if you end up spending the day at this gorgeous dog park.
