While visiting the area, many families take the opportunity to do some fishing or even to walk the dog or ride their horse along the shoreline. With such close proximity to other state parks, why not load up Fido and the family and explore nearby Bottle Beach State Park, Twin Harbors, or Grayland Beach? This dog friendly space offers 15 picnic benches in unsheltered areas throughout the park. Each picnic section is also equipped with outdoor barbecue pits where families can prepare a hearty meal. Access to both the picnic tables and barbecue facilities are available on a first come, first served basis.
The beach at Westport Light State Park is well regarded for its surfing and fishing as well as clamming and crabbing. It is also an ideal location for bird watching from the sandy shores of this idyllic beach haven. Due to high winds and strong tidal currents, swimming is not recommended. While Westport Light State Park is a dog friendly facility, dogs are required to remain on lead at all times on the premises. Poop bags are not provided on site; however, park officials mandate the prompt pickup and disposal of all waste materials to preserve the pristine beauty of the park and surrounding beach.
Though there are no official regulations governing park use, it is highly recommended that all dogs be current on vaccinations and bear the appropriate state license tag. This park does offer an on site restroom for public use. Access to this public park space is free of charge. It is, however, important to note that Westport Light State Park observes seasonal hours.
