While you’re in Dallas with your canine companion, you need to check out Dallas’ first dog park, the White Rock Lake Dog Park. This 3 acre fenced off dog park is located on the northwest side of White Rock Lake Park. Surrounding the dog park is a natural paradise, with trails around Dallas’ largest lake, wooded areas and wild flowers. The dog park gives access to some of these hike and bike trails. When your pup needs to burn off some energy, bring them here to enjoy some pawsitive socialization, and some woofderful off-leash freedom!
This park welcomes puppers of all shapes and sizes. There are two separate fenced off areas, one 2 acre large dog area, and a 1 acre area for the little guys. Both areas are made up of turf and trees, and are well lit so you can feel safe letting your dog play at dusk or dawn. Some more features include agility equipment, and vending machines that offer dog toys.
On a hot summer day, your pooch can take a splash in White Rock Lake from the water access area. This section welcomes large and small breeds. Here your pupper can run, rinse, and repeat all day while you watch from the observation area. There is also the option of cooling off in one of the shaded areas, or re-hydrating at one of the pet drinking stations. When it’s time to head home, you can rinse off your muddy mutt at one of the pet comfort stations before putting them in the car.
There are plenty of doggy waste stations to be found here, so please pick up after your pet. No more than three dogs are allowed per owner, and they need to stay leashed when they’re not within the fenced off areas. No unvaccinated or unsterilized dogs are allowed in the dog park. As long as you and your dog follow the proper petiquette, you’re sure to make many furry friends. The park is closed on Mondays for maintenance, and on rainy days or after a medium to heavy rainfall. This is so the park can dry out to prevent damage.
With all the features in White Rock Lake Dog Park, it’s sure to get your pup’s tail wagging!
