Description

Dobbs Park in east Terre Haute, Indiana is a location favored by local residents and visitors alike for its calm setting and beautiful natural features. The park features a three-acre pond and a 25-acre nature preserve. It also contains a natureĀ center and Native American museum which provide the community with a great opportunity to learn about the area and its history. One of the best parts of Dobbs Park, however, is its extensive trail system, where you can explore the park on foot with your canine companion!

There are a number of trails you can explore throughout the park. If you want an up-close view of the scenic Dobbs Pond, then Fishermanā€™s Trail is a good place to start your hike. It is located on the south side of the pond and runs just over a third of a mile. For a longer walk, you can start out at the Native American museum and head north to the Pinewood Trail.Ā

From here, you have the option of heading right for a shorter loop back around the wetlands or left to explore the 25-acre nature preserve in the northwest section of the park. The nature preserve trail runs about three-quarters of a mile, and the wetlands trail runs a little over half a mile. Whichever trail you choose, you are sure to experience the picturesque natural features of the area, and you will probably see some interesting wildlife as well!

When you are visiting Dobbs Park, be sure to abide by its rules and regulations. Furry friends must be kept on-leash at all times, and be sure to bring some bags to clean up after your dog as well. Restrooms and drinking water can be found in the southern section of the park around the various facilities.

Whether you want to take a short stroll along the pond or explore all of the trails that Dobbs Park offers, you are sure to enjoy your time spent here with your dog!
