Forest Park is the third-largest park in Queens, and it’s home to three beautiful forest trails that you and your pup are both sure to love! Dogs are welcome in the park on-leash at all times, and they’re also allowed to go off-leash in some portions of the park from 6 AM-9 AM.
Parking for Forest Park is available at Seuffert Bandshell. Many of the park’s most pawpular trails begin near the parking lot, including the 1.7-mile Blue Trail. This trail takes you in a loop through the heart of Forest Park’s woodland area. As you’re walking on the trail, you’ll pass through a forest filled with towering oak trees, and you’ll also walk past numerous kettle ponds.
If you’re looking for a longer trek, hop on the 2.4-mile Orange Trail. This trail takes you along the perimeter of the forest, and it also goes through the Pine Grove. If you’d rather go on a shorter hike through the forest, try the milelong Yellow Trail. This trail goes through the northern portion of the forest, and it provides stunning views of a vernal pond that’s home to many different bird species. No matter which trail you choose, you’re sure to have a good time hiking on Forest Park’s trails!
Forest Park is also home to lots of other fun attractions, including a fenced dog run. This dog run includes separate areas for large and small dogs, and it also has an obstacle course. If you need to clean up after your pup, doggy bags are available in the dog run. Your pup will love playing and meeting new friends here!
Forest Park is a pawesome park that’s perfect for anyone who loves hiking through the woods with their dog. Remember to practice good petiquette and clean up after your dog while you’re hiking, and have fun spending the day in this puptastic park!
