Description

Glen Canyon Park is a hidden gem in California’s San Francisco Bay Area; it encompasses just 77 acres and has a trail system of ruffly four miles, making it well worth your time to visit if you are looking for a beautiful location for a walk with your dog! The lush and scenic canyon landscape provides a wonderful setting to get away from the bustle of downtown San Francisco, and you’re sure to catch a glimpse of interesting wildlife and picturesque wildflowers while you walk through the park. The park is open year-round, so stop by any time for a quick stroll or a meditative walk through nature.

You and your dog can begin your Glen Canyon Park adventure by parking in one of the nearby neighborhoods; the park itself can be accessed from Elk Street or Chenerey Street nearby. The park offers three sections of trail: the Coyote Crags trail segment in the north, and the Islais Creek and Gumtree Girls trails, both of which run alongside Islais Creek.

While you’re walking the loop trail, you will pass by Islais Creek, which flows through the area. The rocky canyon, however, certainly takes center stage in terms of natural features. You’ll also probably notice the playground and picnic area nearby; this is Glen Canyon Park Recreation Center. This is also where you can find restrooms and water fountains if you need to make a pit-stop before your walk.

When you are visiting the trail at Glen Canyon Park, make sure you abide by the guidelines maintained by San Francisco Parks & Recreation Department. Your canine companion must be leashed at all times, and make sure you bring some doggy bags as well.

Glen Canyon Park is one of the best-kept secrets of the Bay Area; its natural features, calming ambiance, and easy hiking opportunities are sure to delight you and your pooch!

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
