Description

The Golden Gate Promenade is a fun trail that provides pawesome views of some of San Francisco’s most iconic sights. The trail is mostly flat, making it easy for dogs to walk on. Pups are welcome to join you on-leash.

There are a few different places you can park along the trail, including the East Beach Parking Lot on the east side of the trail and the West Bluff Parking Lot on the west side of the trail. If you choose to begin on the trail’s east side, one of the first sights you’ll pass is Crissy Field.

Crissy Field was once an Army airfield, but now, it has been transformed into a recreation area. This recreation area includes a beach where pups can run and play off-leash. It also has a picnic area with amazing views of San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge. Plus, Crissy Field is also home to a picturesque marsh that’s filled with shorebirds, including great blue herons, sandpipers, willets, terns, and much more.

After you’re finished exploring the furrific Crissy Field, head back onto the Golden Gate Promenade and continue your stroll. As you walk down the promenade, you’ll get beautiful views of the Golden Gate Bridge and the Marin Headlands. There are plenty of benches along the way where you can relax and enjoy the views.

The Golden Gate Promenade ends at the Fort Point National Historic Site, which is located right below the Golden Gate Bridge. This fort was built in 1853, and it was used during the Civil War. Dogs aren’t allowed in the fort itself, but you can walk around the outside of the historic area.

The Golden Gate Promenade is a beautiful trail that provides pawsitively amazing views the whole way through. Bring some doggy bags with you so you can clean up after your dog, and have a great time walking down this historic and scenic trail!
