Fun outside with your best friend is something no pup will turn down! So, grab your pup’s leash and head out to spend some quality time hiking on the Great Trinity Forest Trails in the city of Dallas, Texas! You will be glad you did!
The trails are easy to find and are just a short drive from downtown. There are three access points, including one at the Trinity River Audubon Center on the east side of the trail, one at the Eco Park facility on Simpson Stuart on the south side of the trail, and the Great Trinity Forest Way Trailhead, which is the north location. Pack up your pup and their leash and get going!
The Trinity Forest Trail itself runs for 4.5 miles throughout the area with additional trails connecting to make a loop of approximately 10 miles, with these new additions being added over the last few years. You and your puptastic pal will be treated to scenic views of the Trinity River and a few small ponds. These are very calming areas and make for spectacular photos. Large trees dot the rest of the landscape through the forest which muffles out the sounds of the city just a few miles away. Your pup will love walking by some of Dallas’ most beautiful land, including the Joppa Preserve and Lemmon Lake. Easy on the paws, this concrete trail will immerse you into nature without having to leave the metropolis.
Your pup must remain on leash throughout your hike. Be sure to take plenty of water to share and clean up mitts to ensure this trail remains pup-friendly.
