Description

Kite Hill is a small but charming open space set in the heart of San Francisco. It is famous for its spectacular views of the city, and locals and visitors alike treasure the opportunity to visit the park’s relaxing grounds and escape the overwhelming bustle of the big city. The park houses part of a network of trails that run from Douglass Stairs through Kite Hill to Twin Peaks in the southwest. The trail is a wonderful destination to explore if you are in the San Francisco Bay Area, and you are welcome to bring your canine companion along for the hike!

There is no official parking lot for access to Kite Hill, but you can park near one of the entrances on Corwin Street, Stanton Street, or Grand View Terrace. From there, you can walk the incline to the top of the hill, where you will be rewarded with a breathtaking view of the surrounding city — the hill overlooks Market Street and the Bay, among other easily recognizable landmarks. The park itself is a few acres with a walkable path around the grounds, and the grassy summit also features some benches for you to rest your legs. Many locals recommend heading to the summit at night to see the sprawling city all lit up. From Kite Hill, you have the option of continuing your hike toward Twin Peaks to the southeast.

When you are visiting any trail, always observe trail etiquette and abide by the trail’s rules. Furry friends must remain leashed at Kite Hill, and be sure to bring bags to clean up after your dog as well. Note that there are no restrooms at the park.

A visit to Kite Hill is a must for anyone in the Bay Area; you and your dog are sure to love its spectacular view of the city!
