Experience the beauty of the Neponset River with your pup by taking a walk along the Lower Neponset River Trail. A favorite with the local canines and people, it follows the path of the river giving its users furrific scenery to enjoy while they break a sweat.
On the eastern end, the trail begins at Tenean Beach. If you
have a car, you can park it in the beach’s parking lot. The trail actually crosses a
few streets before resuming in Pope John Paul II Park. If you’re not in a
hurry, take a spin around this park and let your pup check things out. A
walking path goes all the way down to the river’s edge. When you are ready to
continue your journey on the Lower Neponset Trail, leave the park and continue
west. The next major landmark is the Neponset River Reservation. This place also
has another side trail that’s worth exploring. If your pooch just wants to keep going, stay
on the main trail and make your way through the marshlands and wetlands. Your
furry friend will go mutts over the pawsome scenery.
From here, the trail continues through the Lower Mills
area and enters Milton. There are several paths that lead to nearby businesses.
If your doggo is up for it, take a side trip and wander around the village. The
trail officially ends near the cross section of Eliot Street and Central
Avenue. However, if your pal isn’t ready to quit, Neponset Trail continues a bit longer.
If you just want to travel the trail one way, don’t
forget to arrange for a pick up or a shuttle. Do your part to keep the trail
smelling fresh by bringing along some clean up bags and picking up after your
beloved pup. Also, be sure to carry plenty of water. Above all else, have a
furrific time walking alongside your furry BFF!
