Description

When you come to Minooka Park to get some exercise, you'll be able to choose from single-track loops that wind through the woods, nature paths, and a walking trail around Gulf States Columbiana SW Lake. This is a mixed forest area with pines and broadleaf trees. Out here, you can watch for white-tail deer and other woodland creatures. The park also offers RV camping and fishing from five piers. There are restrooms available near the parking lot.

Most of the trails start from the parking area. From here, you can hop on the lakeside walking path to head around the water. Follow the road along the edge of the woods and cross over the lake's eastern finger on the bridge. Take some time to fish from a pier or rest at one of the benches. The A Zone Trail System also begins by the lot. Head through the woods making a sweeping circuit around the lake. Choose from the Blue, Yellow, or Red paths. You'll be going up and down and taking sharp turns over varying terrain out here. The B Zone trail starts from the campground. At first, it goes south, but then it curves to head north and east of the lake. Each of these tracks is one-way, so follow the trail markings to stay on course.

You can bring your four-footed friend with you when you come to hike here. The park requires that they stay on a leash. Remember to collect and dispose of their droppings. Carry water with you if you plan on taking one of the longer circuits.

The Minooka Park Trail System offers you and your pooch a range of hiking opportunities. You can take a stroll around the water and enjoy the scenic views. For a more challenging workout, take one of the routes that winds through the forest. Come here in the fall to see the changing colors.

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
